Congratulations to Chris Perkins who recently got hired as the head coach of the Men's Soccer Team at Louisville Male High School. Chris is looking for assistant coaches in the Louisville area. Bobby McDowell is stepping down from his position as High Pi. A huge thanks goes out to Bobby for his years of dedication and service to Epsilon Phi.
Congratulations to Craig L. Merimee (1335) who is getting married April 13th to Michelle Toon.
Congratulations to Allen Silvey (1366) who got accepted to medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he will start in August. Allen and his wife and son (Carolyn and Cole) are still living in Deptford, NJ close to Philadelphia. Also, Allen's son Cole just turned one-year-old on January 12th, and Allen turned 29 on February 12th….happy belated birthday to you both
The golf scramble has been scheduled again this year and is set to take place on Saturday, April 6th at 1:30 PM and will be held at Connemara Golf Links in Lexington. More information as to the price etc. will be forthcoming. If you plan on attending, try to let me know so that I can get an approximate number of participants. Also, if you would like to plan more events for that weekend please send me your ideas and we'll see what we can work out.
In May 2002, Brad Riddell (1217) will be graduating from USC's School of Cinema Television with a Master's of Fine Arts degree in film. He will be marrying Tina Schneider, his love of 5 years, on June 1st in Lexington, and this past January Brad had the distinct honor of running with the Olympic Torch in Beverly Hills.
John Prather (E Phi 1154 class of ’91) and his wife, Michong, had their first baby, John Daniel Prather, on December 15th 2001. John is a helicopter pilot at Ft Campbell KY, and holds the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 or CW3 in the US Army. If anyone has any questions on the Army or would like to talk to John, you can e-mail him at jprather@clarksville.com . Congratulations to John and his wife on the birth of their son.
Jeremiah A. Byrne, E-phi 1222, will be graduating from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in May 2002. Jeremiah will be starting as a Litigation Associate with Frost Brown Todd LLC, in Louisville, Kentucky, in August 2002. Jeremiah is married to the former Shannon Berryman and lives in the Hikes Point area of Louisville. Jeremiah has also offered his insights for anyone that is considering law as a profession. Currently, John F. Huggins (1176) is living with his wife Paula in Bowling Green, KY. They are the managing partners of Coldwell Banker Legacy Real Estate Group and Auction Concepts, USA. Paula runs the accounting department and manages the staff while John handles Management of the sales force and strategic planning. They have two offices in Bowling Green and one in Glasgow serving 10 counties in South Central Kentucky. They have approximately 70 agents working out of their offices. Through their extensive broker network they are always willing and able to help Lambda Chi's buy or sell homes almost anywhere in the world. Congratulations to Paul Daruwala (1139) and his family on the birth of his two daughters! Sydney Rose (18.5", 5lbs8oz, 7:02am) and Anne Marie (18.5", 5lbs11oz, 7:15am) were born on 10/16/01. Jeff Lenberger has just completed a SERE (Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape) Indoctrination course here at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. Jeff joined the Air Force back in April and is training to become a SERE instructor, which basically means he will be training pilots, Special Forces, and any other airman who may fly in a plane. Jeff will be training them at the U.S. Air Force Basic Survival School. From San Antonio, Jeff is getting ready to move to Spokane, Washington which is where he will be spending the rest of his enlistment. At the end of his four years with the Air Force as an instructor, Jeff is planning on moving back to Kentucky to teach high school. Matt LaBarbara is teaching elementary and middle school orchestra in Jessmine County. He recently finished a book on teaching special needs children how to play the violin. Matt just finished his 9th year with the Army Reserve band, and his son turns 1 on October the 30th.
Ben Rao is a sales representative and Regional Manager for Direct Data Corporation, an IBM Business Partner for Mainframe Computing System in St. Louis, MO. He is celebrating 5 years of bliss with his wife Rhonda, and has a 3 1/2 year old daughter, Madison and a 14-month-old son, Charles or “Charlie Tuna" as they call him.
Ryan Pollack E-Phi (1292) works for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (an accounting firm) in Charlotte, NC. He will be in Lexington for the College of Business Career Day on October 3rd. "Louis Roe, Jr. has recently accepted the position of CEO for Select Specialty Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. He had previously worked as Community CEO of South Williamson ARH Hospital is South Williamson, Kentucky. Louis is married to Tracy, and they have two boys (Cody - 6; and Trey - 14 months)."
